So I got to see The Hobbit movie in HFR (doubled-frame-rate) 3D, last night. After a false start where the 3-D was entirely messed up (which they fixed, and we all got free movie passes!), and the effect where the movie looks like it's running in fast-forward, I really liked the HFR enhancement!
I can see why people think it's worse than the traditional 24 fps, though. It's similar to the change from analog records and vacuum tubes to solid-state amps and digitally sampled music on CDs. Whatever you're already used to always seems better.
Just like UT 99.
Everything Goes, but be nice.
